● The problem

## Most platforms want to be the merchant. We do not.

When a platform acts as merchant of record, they sit between you and your money. Payouts depend on their schedule, their policies, their reserve terms. We prefer the other model: you connect your own Stripe or PayPal, your funds land in your bank account on your processor's timeline, and nobody is a middleman.

● Coverage

## Six ways to take money.

Pick whichever your market, region, or customers prefer. Multiple can be active at once, buyers pick at checkout.

01

### Stripe.

Global coverage, the industry default. Supports saved cards, recurring subscriptions, partial captures, partial refunds. If you sell internationally and want one gateway that works almost anywhere, this is usually it.

02

### PayPal.

Trusted buyer brand, especially strong with older demographics and international markets where card coverage is patchy. PayPal buyer protection reduces chargeback risk on physical goods.

03

### Authorize.Net.

Long-established US-focused gateway with saved cards and strong merchant tools. Good choice for US sellers with an existing Authorize.Net merchant relationship.

04

### Crypto (NOWPayments).

Accept Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, USDC, and hundreds more coins through NOWPayments. Settle in crypto or auto-convert to fiat, and skip card chargebacks entirely. Useful for digital goods and global, unbanked buyers.

05

### Manual.

Bank transfer, cash on delivery, invoice, or anything else. Sellers define the payment instructions, buyers see them at checkout, orders wait in pending until marked paid.

06

### Test mode (built in).

Flip your store to test mode and Shoprocket swaps in a simulated gateway. No real sandbox credentials needed, no risk of a test order hitting a live Stripe account. Toggle back to live when you are ready.

● How it works

## Connect once. Shoprocket handles the rest.

The dashboard has a Payment Settings panel. Pick a gateway, authenticate with your existing account, save. From that moment, checkout offers that method to buyers.

01

### Connect via your own account.

Stripe Connect for Stripe, OAuth for PayPal, API keys for others. You link the account you already have. Shoprocket stores the credential securely and uses it to create charges on your behalf.

02

### Multiple gateways at once.

A store can have Stripe AND PayPal AND crypto active simultaneously. Buyers see all available methods at checkout and pick. No code, no rule engine, just toggles in settings.

03

### Real webhooks, real status.

Every gateway sends webhooks for payment success, failure, chargebacks, refunds. Our webhook handler updates the order status in real time. No polling, no "I think the payment went through" uncertainty.

04

### Saved cards where supported.

Stripe and Authorize.Net let returning customers pay with a stored card via the tokenised saved-cards flow. PCI handled by the gateway, not by Shoprocket.

05

### Refunds from the dashboard.

Full or partial refunds from the order page. The action calls the gateway, updates the payment status, and sends the customer a notification. Chargeback events update the order automatically too.

06

### Your merchant, your payouts.

Funds settle to YOUR bank account on YOUR gateway payout schedule. Shoprocket never holds your money, never delays payout, never reserves funds.

Your money

### Funds land in your bank, on your processor's schedule.

This is the whole point. Because it's your own Stripe, PayPal, or other account underneath, payouts follow your processor's normal timeline straight to your bank. Shoprocket never holds your money, never sets a reserve, and never delays a payout. We take 0% of the sale; the only fee is your processor's standard rate for moving money.

- ✓ Payouts settle to your own bank account
- ✓ Your processor's schedule, not ours
- ✓ 0% held by Shoprocket, no reserves, no middleman

● At checkout

## One flow. Any gateway. PCI-compliant by design.

The final payment step uses a hosted redirect to your processor (Stripe, PayPal, etc.) so card data never touches Shoprocket servers. Same flow any modern ecommerce platform uses, same reason: PCI scope.

Checkout

### Cart and shipping on your site. Payment on the processor.

Cart, address, and shipping selection all run inside the Shoprocket embed on your site. For the final payment step, the buyer redirects to a hosted checkout on your connected processor, enters their card, and returns to your site for the confirmation. This keeps you out of PCI scope (huge compliance win) and means every modern fraud protection your gateway offers (3DS, radar, liability shift) applies by default.

- ✓ Cart + address + shipping: on your site (fast, inline)
- ✓ Payment step: hosted by the processor (PCI-compliant, fraud-protected)
- ✓ Confirmation: back on your site (no checkout domain change visible)

● Side by side

## Connect your gateway. Do not rent a merchant.

The honest comparison between platforms that act as merchant of record and platforms that connect you to yours.

Platform-as-merchant (Gumroad, Payhip, Lemon Squeezy)

Shoprocket (connect your own)

Who holds the money

The platform. They collect from the buyer, deduct their fee, and pay you on their schedule.

Your own merchant account. Funds land in your bank, your processor handles payout.

Platform fee on sales

Typically 5% to 10% per sale, plus payment processing.

0% platform fee. Only the standard processor fee (Stripe, PayPal, etc.).

Regional coverage

Fixed set of regions the platform chose to support.

Nine gateways covering US, EU, UK, Israel, global crypto, and more. Pick by region.

Payout schedule

Platform's terms (often weekly, sometimes 30+ days for new accounts).

Your gateway's terms (Stripe default: 2 business days; configurable).

Tax responsibility

Platform is merchant of record, handles tax. Convenient but you lose the margin.

You are merchant of record. Shoprocket auto-calculates rates across 90+ jurisdictions; you handle remittance.

Multiple methods at once

Usually card + PayPal at most.

Stripe + PayPal + crypto + manual + whatever else, all simultaneously.

Test / sandbox mode

Platform-specific test mode, often requires separate sandbox credentials.

Built-in test gateway swaps in when you flip the store to test mode. No sandbox accounts needed.

Who eats chargeback risk

Varies: platforms sometimes hold reserves or claw back from your next payout.

You and your processor handle it the normal way. No platform reserves.

● Common questions

## Payment-gateway questions, answered.

What we hear from sellers evaluating Shoprocket against platforms that act as merchant of record.

Does Shoprocket take any cut of my sales? +

No. 0% platform fees on every plan. Your payment processor charges their standard fee (Stripe: 2.9% + 30c for US cards, etc.), that is the cost of moving money. Shoprocket adds nothing on top.

Can I connect more than one gateway at the same time? +

Yes. A single store can have Stripe, PayPal, crypto, and a manual method all active. Buyers see the available methods at checkout and pick. This is how regional coverage works in practice: Stripe for cards, PayPal as a familiar fallback, crypto for buyers who prefer it.

How do I handle testing without touching my live gateway? +

Flip your store to Test mode in Settings. Shoprocket swaps the active gateway with the built-in simulated gateway. Every test order runs end-to-end (cart, checkout, confirmation, email) without creating a real charge. No Stripe sandbox keys needed; no real gateway accounts touched. Toggle back to live when you are ready.

What happens at checkout? Does Shoprocket see card numbers? +

No. Cart, address, and shipping selection run inside the Shoprocket embed on your page. For the final payment step, the buyer redirects to a hosted checkout on your connected processor (Stripe, PayPal, etc.), enters their card there, and returns to your site for the order confirmation. Card data never touches Shoprocket servers, which keeps you out of PCI scope.

Do you support saved cards for returning customers? +

Yes on Stripe and Authorize.Net. Both support tokenised saved-card flows: returning buyers can pay with a card stored against their account without re-entering it. The tokenisation happens on the gateway side, so Shoprocket is still never handling card numbers. PayPal and crypto payments work differently and don't use stored cards.

What about recurring subscriptions? +

Yes, on the recurring-capable gateways. Stripe, PayPal, and Authorize.Net can bill subscriptions that auto-renew, with failure retries and card-update handling on the gateway side. Crypto and manual methods are one-time by nature, so subscription products are offered only on the gateways that can actually renew them, made clear at checkout rather than failing later.

Can I refund an order from the dashboard? +

Yes. Full or partial refunds from the order page. Stripe supports partial refunds and partial captures; other gateways support full refunds. The refund call hits the gateway, the gateway sends a webhook back confirming the refund, and the order status updates automatically. Customer gets a notification.

What if a buyer opens a chargeback? +

Your gateway handles the dispute process (this is how chargebacks work everywhere). The gateway sends Shoprocket a webhook when a chargeback opens; the order status updates to reflect it. You manage the dispute from the gateway's dashboard with the evidence they require. Shoprocket does not hold reserves or claw back from your next payout.

What gateways do you plan to add? +

Roadmap candidates include Razorpay (India), MercadoPago (LatAm), GoPay (SE Asia), Flutterwave (Africa), and iyzico (Turkey). Each adds a region where Stripe coverage is limited. Priority is driven by inbound requests, so if a gateway matters to your market, tell us.

Is it really 0% fees forever? +

Yes, on every plan. Starter ($29/mo) through Plus ($199/mo). Processor fees are still the processor's (Stripe's 2.9% + 30c, etc.), that is the cost of moving money and we do not see any of it. Shoprocket is a flat subscription.
