● What this actually is

## A product catalog Meta fetches automatically.

Shoprocket publishes your catalog as a URL in the format Meta Commerce Manager expects. You paste that URL once in Commerce Manager. Meta fetches it on a schedule, your Facebook Shop and Instagram Shop stay in sync, and product tags across Instagram (posts, Reels, Stories) light up automatically. No manual CSV uploads, no forgetting to update after adding a product.

How it works

## Four steps, once.

01

### 1. Get your catalog into Meta.

In the Shoprocket dashboard, add the Facebook & Instagram app and connect your Meta business, or copy your product feed URL from Settings > Feeds. Either way, Meta gets a catalog it keeps up to date.

02

### 2. Open your Shop.

In Meta Commerce Manager, create a Shop on that catalog, choose checkout on another website, and paste the checkout URL from your Facebook & Instagram settings.

03

### 3. Tag products in content.

Once the catalog is live in Meta, you can tag products in Instagram posts, Reels, Stories, and Facebook posts via the normal native interface. Tags link to the product in your catalog.

04

### 4. Buyers check out on your store.

A buyer fills a basket in your Facebook or Instagram Shop and checks out on your store, with the basket already in the cart and any Meta offer code applied. The sale is yours, and your analytics show it came from Facebook or Instagram.

● What the feed includes

## Everything Meta's catalog expects.

Generated from your Shoprocket catalog, refreshed on schedule, no manual export.

01

### Product identity.

Title, description, product URL, main image, additional images, GTIN / MPN / SKU, Google product category mapping.

02

### Pricing and availability.

Price (in your store currency), sale price, availability (in stock / out of stock) updated per the current inventory level.

03

### Variants.

Each variant (size, colour, etc.) becomes a separate feed item with its own SKU, price, stock, and image. Meta presents them as selectable options on the product page.

04

### Localized versions.

Each supported locale gets its own feed URL. Your Spanish-language catalog can feed a Spanish-targeted Meta catalog; likewise for French, German, and the other 21 supported languages.

05

### Brand and identity fields.

Brand name, condition (new / used / refurbished), item groups for variants. Everything Meta needs to approve the catalog and show it in ads.

06

### Shipping and tax hints.

Shipping weight (where defined), basic tax category hints. Detailed shipping rules live on your store; Meta uses the hints for estimated-shipping displays in ads.

● Who uses this

## Content creators, DTC brands, and anyone selling through social.

Instagram and Facebook sales channels are particularly valuable for three common patterns.

01

### Content creators and influencers.

You post, tag your own products, sell directly to followers. The content already drives sales on Instagram; shoppable tags shorten the distance from post to purchase.

02

### DTC and lifestyle brands.

If Instagram is your primary brand-building channel, product tagging turns every post into a potential sales surface. Works for apparel, beauty, home goods, accessories, anything visual-first.

03

### Catalog-driven ads.

Meta Advantage+ Shopping Campaigns and Dynamic Product Ads pull from the catalog. A working catalog unlocks high-ROI ad formats most brands cannot run without one.

● The honest bit

## What this is NOT.

Feed-based integrations are powerful but one-way. Here is what Shoprocket does and does not do with Meta's APIs, so you know what you are signing up for.

01

### We don't manage your ads.

The feed powers your catalog in Meta. Running, optimising, and tracking ad campaigns still happens in Meta Ads Manager. We do not publish ads on your behalf, manage budgets, or optimise creative.

02

### We don't auto-tag your posts.

Tagging products in posts, Reels, and Stories is a manual step you do in the Instagram or Facebook app, using the catalog Meta ingested from Shoprocket. Tag automation is a separate tool category.

03

### In-app checkout is off the table.

Meta has wound down in-app checkout for third-party catalogs. Buyers who tap a product tag are sent to your site for checkout. This is how every third-party Meta catalog works now, not a Shoprocket limitation, and it happens to be exactly Shoprocket's model: the sale completes on your own store.

04

### We don't read Instagram analytics back.

The integration is one-way (your catalog goes to Meta). Shoprocket does not ingest Instagram impressions, clicks, or demographic data back into its own analytics. Use Meta Business Suite for those metrics.

● Common questions

## Instagram / Meta questions, answered.

What sellers evaluating Shoprocket against platform-native shopping ask.

Do I need a separate Shopify / Wix Stores / BigCommerce account to use Instagram Shopping? +

No. Instagram Shopping works with any catalog feed Meta accepts, including Shoprocket's. You do not need a commerce platform Meta explicitly partners with; you just need a feed URL in the correct format, which we generate.

What format does Meta require? +

Meta accepts CSV, XML, and TSV feeds in its standard schema. Shoprocket generates XML (the most robust option for catalogs with variants and long descriptions). Meta ingests, validates, and approves products against its commerce policies.

How often does the catalog sync? +

You configure the fetch schedule in Meta Commerce Manager (hourly, daily, weekly). Shoprocket's feed URL is live and always up to date; Meta simply chooses how often to pull it. Most brands use daily for catalogs that change often.

Do I need Meta Commerce Manager? Is that free? +

Yes, and yes. Meta Commerce Manager is Meta's free tool for managing catalogs, Facebook Shops, and Instagram Shopping. You need a Facebook Business Manager account (also free). The one-time setup in Commerce Manager is where you connect the Shoprocket feed URL.

Can I sell on Instagram without paying Meta? +

Yes. Product tagging itself is free. Meta Shops are free. What costs is running ads (Meta Advantage+, Dynamic Product Ads) which pull from the same catalog. The catalog unlocks both free and paid surfaces, use whichever fits your strategy.

What about TikTok? +

Two different things, worth separating. A TikTok product-catalog feed works exactly like Meta's and Google's: Shoprocket generates the feed, TikTok ingests it, and your catalogue can power TikTok's shopping surfaces. That's supported. TikTok Shop's native in-app checkout, with order and inventory sync running inside TikTok, is a deeper integration that's on the roadmap, not shipped. So: catalogue feed to TikTok today, yes; native TikTok Shop checkout, not yet. Supported feed destinations are Meta (Facebook / Instagram), Google Shopping, TikTok, and ChatGPT.

Does Meta take a cut if I sell through Instagram? +

Not when the checkout happens on your site (which it does for catalogs like yours). Meta's commission-based in-app checkout has been wound down for third-party catalogs. When someone taps a product tag, they land on your Shoprocket-powered product page, you keep 100% of the sale, only your payment processor takes its standard fee.

What if a product is out of stock? +

The feed reflects current stock. When a variant goes out of stock, the feed marks availability as out_of_stock, Meta updates the listing on its next fetch, and the Instagram tag either shows an unavailable state or gets hidden depending on Meta's display rules. No manual intervention.

Is the feed locale-aware? +

Yes. Each supported locale (we ship with 21) gets its own feed URL. Connect the English URL to an English-targeted Meta catalog, the French URL to a French-targeted catalog, etc. Product titles, descriptions, and metadata are translated automatically on save.

Is Shoprocket really 0% platform fees? +

Yes. 0% on every plan, every sale, including sales that came from an Instagram product tag. Your payment processor (Stripe, PayPal, etc.) charges their standard processing fee; Shoprocket adds nothing on top.
