# Connect your PayPal account > Let customers pay with PayPal, Pay Later, or by card through PayPal. Click Connect PayPal in Settings > Payments and sign in to PayPal. PayPal runs alongside your card gateway, and Shoprocket takes 0%. Help Centre / Payments - Updated 28 October 2026 PayPal adds a PayPal button to your checkout. Customers can pay from their PayPal balance, use PayPal Pay Later, or pay by debit or credit card through PayPal without having a PayPal account. You connect it by signing in to PayPal from **Settings > Payments**. Payments go straight to your PayPal account. Shoprocket takes no cut of your sales. PayPal charges its own fee on each payment, and that goes to PayPal, not to Shoprocket. PayPal runs alongside whichever gateway takes your cards, such as Stripe, so you can offer both. See [Choose a payment gateway](https://v3.shoprocket.io/help/choose-a-payment-gateway.md). ## Before you begin - You need a PayPal account, ideally a business account, that can receive payments. - The email address on your PayPal account must be confirmed. PayPal won't release payments to an unconfirmed address, so Shoprocket won't connect one. If yours isn't confirmed yet, confirm it in PayPal first. - If you have unsaved changes on the Payments screen, save them first. The **Connect PayPal** button is turned off while there are unsaved changes. ## Step 1: Start the connection 1. In your dashboard, go to **Settings > Payments**. 2. On the **PayPal** card in **Payment gateways**, click **Connect PayPal**. The button changes to **Opening PayPal…** and PayPal's sign-in page opens in the same tab. ## Step 2: Sign in to PayPal Log in with the PayPal account you want to be paid into, and agree to share your account details with Shoprocket. PayPal then sends you back to the Payments screen. ## Step 3: Check the connection Back on the Payments screen, the PayPal card says **Ready to take payments**, with the note: "Connected with your PayPal login. Shoppers can pay with PayPal or by card, and refunds are made in your PayPal account." PayPal is switched **On** for your checkout as soon as it connects, so there is nothing else to do. The PayPal button now appears at your checkout. If something went wrong, the card says so in red. The most common reason is an unconfirmed PayPal email address: confirm it in PayPal, then click **Connect PayPal** again. ## Refunds With this connection, you refund PayPal payments from your PayPal account, not from Shoprocket. Find the payment in PayPal's activity list and refund it there. ## Subscriptions A connection made with your PayPal login can't save a customer's PayPal for repeat payments, so subscription renewals can't be paid with PayPal. One-off orders are unaffected, and subscribers can still pay by card through your card gateway. ## Moved from Shoprocket v2? If you used PayPal on Shoprocket v2, your PayPal account comes across already connected. The card shows **Ready to take payments** and there is nothing to set up. ## Turning PayPal off To stop offering PayPal, turn its switch to **Off** and click **Save settings**. The PayPal button is removed from your checkout.
