# Connect your Stripe account > Take card and wallet payments through Stripe. Click Connect Stripe in Settings > Payments, complete Stripe's setup, then switch Stripe on and save. Payments go straight to your own Stripe account and Shoprocket takes 0%. Help Centre / Payments - Updated 28 October 2026 Stripe lets your customers pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and many local payment methods. You start the connection from **Settings > Payments**, Stripe walks you through its own setup, and once Stripe has approved the account you switch it on for your checkout. The Stripe account is yours. Payments land in it directly and Stripe pays them out to your bank on its normal schedule. Shoprocket takes no cut of your sales. Stripe charges its own processing fee on each payment, and that goes to Stripe, not to Shoprocket. ## Before you begin - Have your business details and bank account to hand. Stripe asks for them during setup, along with the details it needs to verify who you are. - If you have unsaved changes on the Payments screen, save them first. The **Connect Stripe** button is turned off while there are unsaved changes, because leaving for Stripe would lose them. ## Step 1: Start the connection 1. In your dashboard, go to **Settings > Payments**. 2. On the **Stripe** card in **Payment gateways**, click **Connect Stripe**. The button changes to **Opening Stripe…** and Stripe's setup opens in the same tab. ## Step 2: Complete Stripe's setup Fill in Stripe's forms: your business, your personal details and the bank account for payouts. Shoprocket fills in your store name to start with, and you can change it there. When you finish, Stripe sends you back to the Payments screen. If you close the tab partway through, nothing is lost: come back to **Settings > Payments** and click **Continue setup** to carry on where you left off. ## Step 3: Check the account is ready The Stripe card shows where your account stands: - **Setup incomplete**: Stripe needs more from you. A **Stripe still needs:** list shows what is missing. Click **Continue setup** to finish it. - **Under review**: you have sent everything and Stripe is checking it. This usually clears on its own. Finishing the form does not always mean the account is approved straight away. - **Ready to take payments**: Stripe has approved the account. The card also says whether payouts are enabled yet. On the Stripe card, turn the switch to **On**. It can only be switched on once the card says **Ready to take payments**. 2. Click **Save settings**. Stripe now appears at your checkout. If another card gateway, such as Square or Mollie, was on, it is switched off when you save, because only one gateway takes cards at a time. PayPal and crypto keep running alongside Stripe. ## Adding more payment methods Shoprocket shows your customers the payment methods you have turned on in your own Stripe account. To add one, such as Apple Pay, Klarna or iDEAL, log in to your Stripe dashboard and turn it on in Stripe's payment method settings. It appears at your checkout without any change in Shoprocket. Which methods are available depends on your country and your customers' currency. If you also connect PayPal directly, PayPal is not shown twice: the PayPal button comes from your PayPal connection, not from Stripe. ## Testing your checkout Stripe connects your real account, so payments through it are real. To try your checkout without charging anyone, use **Place a test order** in the **Test payments** card on the same screen. You approve or decline the payment yourself and no money moves. See [Take a test order](https://v3.shoprocket.io/help/take-a-test-order.md). ## Turning Stripe off To stop taking payments through Stripe, turn its switch to **Off** and click **Save settings**. Stripe is removed from your checkout.
