# Create and edit products

> Find any product in Products with search and filters, click it to open its page, change what you need and click Save. Tick several products in the list to set them active, set them to draft, archive them or delete them in one go.

Once your first product is in, most of your time in **Products** is finding things and changing them: a new price, a better description, taking something off sale for the winter. This article covers the **Products** list, the product page and the changes you can make to many products at once.

## Find a product

Go to **Products**. The list shows every product with its picture, **Name**, **Price**, **Variants**, **Stock**, **Status** and **Created** date. Click a column heading to sort by it, and click a row to open that product.

To narrow the list down:

- **Search products…** finds products by name, short description, SKU or barcode.
- **Created date** shows products added in a date range.
- **Status** shows only **Active**, **Draft** or **Archived** products.
- **Category** shows the products in one category.
- **Stock** shows products that are **Sold out** or **Running low** (1 to 5 left of a variant whose stock is tracked).

Click **Clear** to drop every filter at once. **Per page** sets how many products each page shows.

A product with unlimited stock shows **∞** in the **Stock** column. One with some unlimited variants and some tracked ones shows the tracked total plus **∞**, for example `12 + ∞`.

## Edit a product

1. In **Products**, click the product.
2. Make your changes. Each section on the page shows a one-line summary when it is closed, so you can see what is set without opening it. Click a section's heading to open or close it, or use the **Expand all sections** button at the top of the page to open them all.
3. Click **Save** in the bar at the top.

As soon as you change something, the bar shows **Unsaved changes**. Nothing is saved until you click **Save**. If you try to leave first, Shoprocket asks whether to **Stay on page** or **Leave & discard**.

The exception is pictures and videos: on a product that already exists, they save the moment you add, remove or reorder them. See [Product images and video](https://v3.shoprocket.io/help/product-images-and-video.md).

The badge beside the product's name shows its kind: **Physical**, **Digital** or **Bundle**. The kind is fixed when the product is created and can't be changed, which is why some sections only appear on some products. A digital product has **Files & delivery** instead of **Inventory**, **Shipping** and **Variants**, and a bundle has **What's in it**.

## What's on the product page

The sections every product starts with:

- **Basics**: the **Product name**, its **URL Slug**, the **Short description** shown in product listings, and the **Brand**.
- **Description**: the full description shoppers read on the product page.
- **Media**: pictures and videos.
- **Pricing**: **Price**, **Compare-at price**, **Cost** and the **Tax class**. With variants, prices are set on each variant instead.
- **Inventory** (physical products without variants): **SKU**, **Barcode (GTIN)** and **Stock**.
- **Variants** (physical products): sizes, grinds, colours and so on. See [Product variants and options](https://v3.shoprocket.io/help/product-variants-and-options.md).
- **Shipping** (anything that ships): how checkout charges shipping for this product, for example **Use store shipping rates** or **Free shipping**.
- **SEO**: how the product appears in search results. See [Product SEO and search preview](https://v3.shoprocket.io/help/product-seo-and-search-preview.md).

On the right, the **Status** card sets whether shoppers can see the product, and **Organisation** puts it in categories. Click **Add to categories…** to choose them.

## Add more to a product

Everything else lives under **Add to this product**, at the bottom of the sections. Click it (or press ⌘J, Ctrl+J on Windows) to see the full list, search it, and click **Add** next to what you need. It includes, among others:

- **Volume price breaks**, **Order limits**, **Unit price** and **Weight & dimensions**
- **Subscription** and **Buyer input fields**
- **Specifications**, **Extra panels** and **Pairs well with**
- **Enquiry & price on request**, **Email content** and **Product safety**

The section appears on the page, ready to fill in, and is saved with the product when you click **Save**. An item marked with a plan name, or **Higher plan**, needs that plan.

If you add a section by mistake, click **Remove ... from this product** at the bottom of it. To turn off something you saved earlier, clear its fields and click **Save**: a section with nothing in it goes back into the **Add to this product** list.

## Show, hide or retire a product

In the **Status** card, set **Status** to:

- **Active**: on sale in your shop.
- **Draft**: hidden from shoppers while you work on it.
- **Archived**: hidden, for something you no longer sell but want to keep on record.

Then click **Save**. **On the storefront** in the same card shows where it stands.

## Change many products at once

1. In **Products**, tick the box beside each product, or tick the box in the heading row (**Select this page**) to pick every product on the page.
2. To include every product that matches your filters, not just this page, click **Select all ... products**.
3. Click **Set active**, **Set draft**, **Archive** or **Delete**.

A line under the toolbar confirms what changed, for example "3 products archived."

**Delete** asks you to confirm first. Deleted products come off your shop straight away and can't be brought back. Past orders keep their lines, so your order history stays complete. If you might sell something again, **Archive** it instead.

Deleting is only done from the list: the product page has no delete button.

## Share a product as a payment link

On a saved product, click **Payment link** at the top of the page. You get a link (and a QR code) that opens checkout with the product already in the cart. Pick the **Variant** and **Quantity** first if you need to. The product must be **Active** for the link to work.
