# Export your products

> Go to Products and click Export to download every product as a CSV file, one row per variant. The file uses the same columns as the importer, so you can edit it in a spreadsheet and import it back to update your products.

You can download your whole catalogue as a CSV file at any time, to keep a copy, share it with someone, or edit many products at once in a spreadsheet and import the changes back.

## Download the file

1. Go to **Products**.
2. Click **Export** at the top of the page.

The download starts straight away, as a file named like `products-export-2026-10-29.csv`. It holds every product in your store, whatever its status (active, draft or archived), and ignores any search or filter you have on the list. Deleted products are left out.

To export, your staff account needs permission to view products.

## What's in the file

Each product starts on a row with **Row Type** `PRODUCT`. If it has more than one variant, each extra variant follows on its own row with **Row Type** `VARIANT`, with the product-level columns left blank.

The columns, in order:

- **Row Type**, **Product Name**, **Slug**, **Summary**, **Description**, **Status**, **Brand**, **Tax Class**, **SEO Title**, **SEO Description**, **Shipping Mode**, **Shipping Amount**: about the product, filled in on its first row only.
- **SKU**, **Price**, **Compare At Price**, **Cost Price**, **Stock**, **Barcode**, **Weight (grams)**: for each variant.
- **Option 1 Name**, **Option 1 Value**, and the same for options 2 and 3: which option values the variant has, for example `Size` and `12 oz`.
- **Categories**: the product's categories, separated by semicolons.
- **Image URLs**: web addresses of the product's pictures, separated by semicolons.

Prices are plain decimals in your store's currency, like `16.00`.

The file covers the catalogue basics only. Settings such as subscription options, add-ons, product tabs, downloadable files and licence keys are not in it.

## Edit and import it back

Because the file uses the importer's own columns, it imports back with every column matched for you:

1. Edit the file in a spreadsheet, for example change the **Price** of your coffee beans from `16.00` to `17.00`. Keep the **SKU** column, since that is how each row finds its product.
2. Save it as a CSV.
3. Go to **Products**, click **Import**, upload the file, and choose **Only update existing** as the **Import mode** so no new products are created by mistake.
