# Buy and print shipping labels > Add the ShipStation app, then click Buy shipping label on an order to compare live carrier prices, buy postage from your ShipStation balance and print the label. The order is marked shipped with the tracking number and the customer is emailed. Help Centre / Orders and customers - Updated 29 October 2026 You can buy postage and print a shipping label straight from an order. Shoprocket asks the carriers for live prices for the parcel, you pick a service, and the label is ready to print. Buying it also records the shipment with its tracking number and emails the customer, so you don't have to type anything in. Labels are bought through ShipStation. You get your own ShipStation account, and postage is paid from your balance there, at their discounted rates. It never appears on your Shoprocket bill. ## Before you begin - **Add the ShipStation app.** Go to **Apps**, find **ShipStation** and add it. It's included on every plan. - **Set up your ShipStation account.** With the app on, a ShipStation card sits at the top of **Settings > Shipping**. Click **Set up with ShipStation**, then finish there: accept the carrier terms, add a card and some balance. When it's ready, the card lists your carriers and your balance, with **Add funds** and **Manage carriers** buttons. - **Add your full business address** (street, city, postcode and country) in **Settings > General**. Carriers quote from it and labels ship from it. - Give your products a weight, so the parcel is priced right without editing. - Your staff account needs the **Process orders** permission. The same account also shows live carrier prices to your customers at checkout. ## Buy a label 1. Open the order from **Orders** and click **Buy shipping label**. 2. Prices load for the parcel worked out from the products on the order. It takes a few seconds, because every carrier is asked. 3. Under **Parcel**, check the **Weight (g)**, and add **Length (cm)**, **Width (cm)** and **Height (cm)** if you know them. If you change anything, click **Update prices**. 4. Under **Service**, pick a service. The one your customer paid for at checkout is marked "the service your customer paid for" and chosen to start with. 5. Under **Print on**, choose **Label printer (4x6)** or **Paper (Letter / A4)**. 6. Leave **Notify customer by email** ticked to send the shipping confirmation with the tracking number. 7. Click **Buy label**. The button shows the price, for example **Buy label - $8.45**. The order's unshipped items are marked as shipped with the label's tracking number. If you had already recorded a shipment by hand with no tracking number, the label's tracking is added to that shipment instead. ## Print the label The label appears in the **Shipping labels** card on the order, with the service, the price, the carrier and tracking number, and a **Track** link. Click **Print label** to open it and print it. ## Void a label you won't use Click **Void** beside the label, then **Void label**. ShipStation refunds the postage to your balance, and the label stays listed, crossed out, as **Voided**. If the label created the shipment, its items go back to unfulfilled so you can ship them again. If it was added to a shipment you recorded yourself, only its tracking number is removed. ## When the button doesn't work **Buy shipping label** only shows on an order with physical items still to send that isn't cancelled, a draft, imported, or a pickup or local delivery order. If something else is missing, the panel tells you what and links to the fix: - ShipStation isn't added yet, or its setup isn't finished. - Your business address is incomplete. - The order has no complete shipping address. - Every item is digital, or everything has already shipped with a tracking number. ShipStation doesn't offer carriers in every country. If yours isn't covered, the ShipStation card in **Settings > Shipping** says so, and you can still record shipments by hand: see [Fulfil and ship orders](https://v3.shoprocket.io/help/fulfil-and-ship-orders.md). ## Packing slips Shoprocket doesn't print packing slips or pick lists.
