# Collect and show product reviews > Shoprocket asks your customers for a review after they buy, lets them add photos and a video, and shows the reviews you approve on your product pages with star ratings and a Verified Purchase badge. How requests go out, how to ask someone yourself, and how to approve and reply. Help Centre / Products - Updated 18 October 2026 Product reviews are built into Shoprocket. Customers who buy from you are emailed a link to review what they ordered, their reviews wait for your approval, and the ones you approve appear on your product pages with star ratings. There is no separate review app to install and nothing to pay for: reviews are on every plan. ## Before you begin Reviews live under **Reviews** in your dashboard sidebar. If you do not see it, go to **Apps**, find **Reviews** and add it. Shops that already had reviews have it switched on for them. ## How customers are asked A few days after an order is paid, Shoprocket emails the customer a **Review request**. It is one email per order, listing the products on it, with a **Write a review** button. The button opens a page where they give each product a star rating, an optional title and their review, and submit. No account or password is needed: the link itself identifies the order, and it keeps working for 60 days. Who gets asked: - Only orders that are paid and still open. A refunded or cancelled order is never asked. - Only products that are still active in your shop and that this customer has not already reviewed. If nothing on the order is left to review, no email is sent. - Each order is asked once. There is no reminder email. - A customer who unsubscribed from your marketing emails is not sent a request. ### Change the timing or turn it off Review requests are on for every new shop, and go 14 days after the order is paid. To change that: 1. In your dashboard, go to **Marketing > Automations**. 2. Find **Review request**. Set the wait in days, or switch it off. 3. Save your changes. Pick a wait that gives the customer time to receive and use the product: a few days for a download, two weeks or more for goods that ship. The wait counts from payment, because that is the one moment every order has, including digital orders that are never shipped. The card also shows how many requests were sent and clicked in the last 30 days. To change the email's wording, open **Edit email** on the same card. The order's timeline shows **Review request emailed** once it has gone. ## Ask a customer yourself For a customer who bought from you outside Shoprocket, say at a market stall or before you moved your shop here, send a request by hand: 1. Go to **Reviews** and click **Request a review**. 2. Choose the **Product**, then enter the **Customer name** and **Customer email**. 3. Their review arrives in **Reviews** for your approval like any other. - A shop can send 50 requests a day, counting **Ask the customer to edit** emails too. - Only active products can be reviewed, and you cannot ask someone who has already reviewed that product with that email. - You cannot write a review for someone. A review only exists once the customer writes it, which is what makes it worth trusting. See [Why you cannot add a review by hand](https://v3.shoprocket.io/help/import-reviews.md). ## The Verified Purchase badge A review shows **Verified Purchase** when the person really bought that product from your shop: - A review written from the automatic request email is always verified, because the link comes from their paid order. - A review from **Request a review** is verified only if the customer bought this product from your shop with the same email address. Otherwise it shows with no badge. - Imported reviews are never verified. See [Import reviews from another platform](https://v3.shoprocket.io/help/import-reviews.md). The badge is set by Shoprocket and you cannot switch it on yourself. ## Photos and a video When a customer writes a review from the automatic request email, they can add up to three photos and one short video to each review. Photos can be up to 10 MB each (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC or AVIF). A video can be MP4, MOV or WebM; it plays without sound and is trimmed to its first 20 seconds. Nothing a customer uploads is public until you approve the review. In the review you see the files under **Photos and video**, and you can **Remove** any of them before you save. You can take files off a customer's review but never add one. Requests you send by hand with **Request a review** do not take photos or video, because the upload is tied to an order. ## Approve, reject and reply Every review a customer writes arrives as **Pending** and appears in your shop only once you approve it. The **Reviews** list shows the product, author, rating, status, source and date, and can be filtered by status, rating and source. - **To approve or reject several at once**, tick them and choose **Approve** or **Reject**. - **To open one**, click it. Under **Moderation**, set its status and keep private **Moderation notes** that customers never see. Click **Save review**. - **To reply**, write in **Your reply** and save. Your reply is shown publicly under the review, labelled as a reply from the shop. The customer is emailed once, in the language they wrote in, when the review is published; untick **Notify customer by email** to skip it. Rejecting a review also deletes its photos and video for good. If you approve it again later, it shows without them. To fix a typo or ask the customer to change their review, see [Edit a review](https://v3.shoprocket.io/help/edit-a-review.md). ## Where reviews show Approved reviews appear on the product's page on your Shoprocket shop and in every embed on your own website that shows a product page: - The average star rating and the number of reviews. - A **Customer photos** strip above the reviews, with the newest photos and videos from approved reviews. Reviews are shown in the shopper's language when your shop sells in more than one. Your star rating can also show on Google.
