# Sell digital products > Create a product of the Digital kind, click Create, then upload the files under Files & delivery. When an order is paid, the buyer is emailed a private download link for each file. Help Centre / Products - Updated 29 October 2026 A digital product is a file your customer downloads, like an ebook, a music album or a printable guide. There is no shipping. As soon as the order is paid, Shoprocket emails the buyer a private link to each file. The examples use a coffee shop in Portland, OR, selling a `Home Brewing Guide` PDF for `9.00`. ## Before you begin - Have the file ready. Any file type works, up to 50MB per file. - Digital products are on every plan. ## Step 1: Create a digital product 1. Go to **Products** and click **Create Product**. 2. Pick **Digital**. 3. Under **Basics**, type the **Product name**, for example `Home Brewing Guide (PDF)`. 4. Under **Pricing**, type the **Price**, for example `9.00`. 5. Click **Create** in the bar at the top. The kind can't be changed after the product is created. A digital product has no **Shipping** or **Inventory** section, and you can't add variants to it. To sell two editions, such as a PDF and an audiobook, make them two products. ## Step 2: Upload the files The **Files & delivery** section sits near the top of the page, under **Media**. Before the product is created it only says to save first, because files attach to a product that already exists. 1. Under **Files & delivery**, click **Upload files**. 2. Pick one or more files. Each file is stored as soon as it uploads, so you don't need to click **Save** for it. Every file in the list is delivered to everyone who buys the product. To remove a file, click the bin icon on its row, then click **Confirm?** to remove it. The product now appears in your shop. ## What the buyer gets When the order is paid, the buyer receives an email headed **Your download** (or **Your downloads** for several files) from your store. It has a **Download** button for each file, and tells them how long the links last, or that they don't expire. - For card and online payments, this is straight after checkout. - For bank transfer and other offline payments, it is sent when you mark the order as paid. - Buying several copies of the same product still gives one link per file. The order's page in your dashboard shows a **Downloads** card with each file and how many times it has been downloaded.
