# Turn on two-factor sign-in

> Ask for a code from an authenticator app as well as your password when you sign in, so a stolen password is not enough to get into your account.

Two-factor sign-in asks for a 6-digit code from an app on your phone each time you sign in, as well as your password. Someone who steals or guesses your password still cannot get in without your phone.

You need an authenticator app first. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password and Authy all work, and all are free.

## Turn it on

1. Click your name at the bottom of the dashboard's sidebar, then **My account**.
2. Click **Account settings**, then the **Security** tab.
3. Under **Two-factor sign-in**, click **Turn on** and enter your password.
4. Open your authenticator app, add an account, and scan the QR code. If you cannot scan it, type the key shown under it into the app instead.
5. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows, then click **Confirm and turn on**.

Nothing changes until you confirm a code, so if you close the drawer halfway, sign-in still works as before.

## Save your recovery codes

Once it is on, you see ten recovery codes. Each one signs you in once instead of a code from your phone. Click **Copy** or **Download** and keep them somewhere safe that is not your phone, such as a password manager. You will not see them again.

To get a fresh set, click **New recovery codes** on the **Security** tab and enter your password. The old ones stop working straight away.

## Signing in

After your email and password, you are asked for a code. Open your authenticator app and enter the 6-digit code it shows for Shoprocket.

- Tick **Trust this device for 30 days** on your own computer and it only asks for a code once a month there. Do not tick it on a shared computer.
- Lost your phone? Click **Lost your phone? Use a recovery code** and enter one of your saved codes. Then turn two-factor off and on again to set up your new phone.
- After too many wrong codes, sign-in pauses for 15 minutes.

## Turn it off

On the **Security** tab, click **Turn off** and enter your password. Sign-in only needs your password again, and your recovery codes and trusted devices stop working.

## Lost your phone and your recovery codes

Email us from the address you sign in with. Once we have confirmed the account is yours, we can turn two-factor sign-in off so you can sign in with your password and set it up again.
