# Real commerce, not a shop bolted onto a website builder. > Squarespace commerce is a website builder with a shop bolted on, transaction fees on lower plans, locked to their templates. Shoprocket adds real commerce to any site with 0% platform fees. Squarespace is a lovely website builder, but its store is a secondary feature: limited product types, transaction fees on lower plans, and everything locked inside Squarespace's templates and checkout. Shoprocket is commerce-first and embeds into any site, including a Squarespace one, with 0% platform fees. Basic shop. Squarespace nails design, but its commerce is a bolt-on: fewer product types, a checkout you can't take with you, and transaction fees on the lower Commerce tiers unless you pay up. If selling is the point, not just the site, the shop shouldn't be the weakest part of the stack. The Shoprocket approach ## Commerce-first, and portable. 01 ### 0% platform fees. No transaction fee on any plan. Squarespace charges a transaction fee on its lower Commerce tier; Shoprocket never takes a cut of a sale. 02 ### Bring your own gateway. Connect your own Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.Net, or crypto, rather than being routed through the platform's payments. 03 ### More to sell. Physical, digital downloads, subscriptions, licence keys, and gift cards, all in one store with one checkout. 04 ### Not locked to one site. Keep your Squarespace site and embed Shoprocket into it via a Code Block, or run a hosted store on your own domain. The commerce layer comes with you either way. The fee math ### One flat plan. No transaction fee. A percentage skimmed off every order is quiet but relentless, and on a website-builder's lower commerce plan it's easy to miss until you total a year of it. Shoprocket charges a flat monthly plan and 0% platform fees, so the only per-sale cost is your payment processor's own rate. - ✓ 0% platform fees on every plan - ✓ Your processor's standard rate is the only per-sale cost - ✓ Flat monthly pricing from $29/mo ● Side by side ## Squarespace Commerce vs Shoprocket. Do I have to leave Squarespace to use Shoprocket? + No. Squarespace Code Blocks (on the Business plan and up) let you embed Shoprocket right into your existing Squarespace site, so you keep the design you built and gain a real cart and checkout. You can also run a hosted Shoprocket store on your own domain instead. Does Shoprocket charge a transaction fee like Squarespace's lower tier? + No. 0% platform fees on every plan. Your payment processor charges its standard rate; Shoprocket adds nothing on top and bills a flat monthly plan. Can I sell subscriptions and digital products? + Yes. Physical products, digital downloads, subscriptions, licence keys, and gift cards all live in the same Shoprocket store with one checkout, more than Squarespace's built-in commerce covers. Can I use my own Stripe or PayPal? + Yes. You connect your own payment accounts, so funds land in your account on your processor's schedule rather than being routed through the platform. ## Give your Squarespace site a real shop. 14-day free trial.
